New Neighbor - Stop-motion Animation (10/1)
A creature has just moved into his new apartment. Sadly, he's feeling a little lonely, but then he hears the neighbors below him talking. He decides to climb down the fire escape (not very gracefully) to attempt to make new friends.
I love this! I was so impressed with your use of sound! I feel like this could be a good challenge for a class with some stop motion experience. Challenge them to create simple stop motion animations emphasizing the importance of sound. It is one thing to add a song in the background that plays throughout... it is another challenge to thoughtfully add sound effects that mimic everyday noises like footsteps and the sound of voices. It really added a fascinating element to the work that helped tell the story in an entertaining way. Good job!
ReplyDeleteThis is so amazing! You did such an amazing job on this little movie, I feel like it has an extremely professional quality to it! I also love that you made your characters out of Sculpey, which was a totally different approach than what I chose to do! I like the idea that your setup was all done vertically, with your camera set upright, rather than horizontally on a flat surface. I think that this allows for you to manipulate the characters and their actions in a totally different way, and that it would be important for students to be able to experiment with both. I also agree with Jane that the use of sound is really effective, and a little movie like this would be a great opportunity to talk to children about foley arts and how we add sound to animated films. Overall, awesome movie- I loved the little selfie at the end!
