Impact 25 (4/2)

Josh and I have our project all planned out and are working on carrying out the project this week. We are going to start by setting up a table in TC with a large piece of watercolor paper. We are going to set out a variety of materials including watercolor, ink, markers, sharpie, and white out. We'll ask people to choose a material and draw a continuous line. The line can be as long as they choose and can cover as much or as little of the paper as they'd like.

How this might look after a few participants
After they make the line, Josh is going to use a vector drawing program to draw the participant's line digitally in 3D. The transparency and color that we make the line will be based on the color and material the participant chooses to use. For example, a line drawn in watercolor would be represented as more transparent than a line in sharpie. The participant will also get to watch as we transform their line into a 3D image and begin to build a piece of art. As our participants layer and connect lines on the paper, we will be building this 3D vector image.

At the end of this process, we will have a physical piece on watercolor paper and a digital interpretation of the same work. We are planning on printing our digital image on epson paper as well.
