The Bees, Honey, and the Flowers (12/1)

 

Alycia and I started by wanting to make an asymmetrical structure composed of different engraved shapes. We started by making the open box, which we designed in illustrator using finger notches. We didn't want to use MakerCase, so we made sure our pieces aligned in illustrator and that the notches were the right size to fit together. We made slits in the circle and oval pieces so they could fit onto the box and on top of each other. We then found vector images online of leaves, a honeycomb design, and the bee to etch onto our pieces. It was difficult creating all of the notches and pieces to fit together, so we were very pleased that it turned out and is stable!
